Technical standards

Access and Terms of Use

Politecnico di Milano users admitted to consultation are:

  • professors
  • researchers
  • assignees
  • doctoral students
  • students
  • technical-administrative staff

To access the platform you must:

  • be enabled to consult:
  • if you are outside the Politecnico, have the proxy configured on your device.

The enablement request can be sent after having read the conditions of use of the resource.

Use the credentials form for the authorisation request.

Then proceed by creating an access password using the link sent in the credentials activation email from the manager (webstore@uni.com).

To consult the standards, you must have Adobe installed, download and install the FileOpen plugin: check the minimum requirements and verify the correct functioning of the plugin by downloading the test document. All instructions for setting up the application correctly can be found on the FileOpen page.

20 simultaneous users are active: if you cannot log in, please try at a later date.

To login, select the login icon (top right).

Then select the login icon again and choose the ‘my subscriptions’ function.

If ‘Subscription busy’ is displayed in red colour, all simultaneous users are already in use.

If ‘Subscription in use’ is displayed in green, this means that at least one user is available and the session can be activated.

If you click on the wording, “Subscription in use” will appear in a yellow box and from this moment on, you will be able to search for the rules of interest and consult the relevant pdf file.

At the end of the consultation, you must deactivate the work session by clicking on the "End use" box.

Standards files are bound to a single licence and protected by Digital Rights Management (DRM), a set of technologies and procedures that protect intellectual property rights attached to the text of the standard. The files can be opened during the consultation session but will only be accessible during it; at the end of the work session, the DRM will not allow the files to be reopened.
Please note that the files are single-licence, so they are for the exclusive use of the user opening the work session. For permitted uses, please refer to the terms of use of the resource.
All standards are available for consultation only to the same categories of users admitted to consultation (lecturers, researchers, assignees, PhD students and technical-administrative staff of the Politecnico di Milano)

It is possible to request the download of the text of a standard in pdf format, with DRM that allows the file to be opened off-line, with no limit on the number of openings and no limit on its validity in time. Again, the files have a single licence, cannot be shared with other people and the DRM only allows it to be opened over time on the device on which it is first opened. The permitted uses of the standards are the same as for the reference function.

Given the limited number of downloads available by contract, requests for the standard should be sent to norme-uni@polimi.it specifying your role and providing all relevant information for identifying the standard.

For information and support requests, please contact norme-uni@polimi.it
