The daily loan service is suspended 20 minutes before closing time.

Services

Catalogues
The catalogue can be consulted online.

Reference
For all library users, according to the following conditions:

  • for books and periodicals available in the library on open shelves, during the opening hours of the Library;
  • for books and periodicals on file, a request must be submitted at least one day in advance.

Photocopying
Not available on site. 

Loans
Periodicals: normally only available for reference. 

However, periodicals may be borrowed and returned before closing, by:

  • professors, researchers, PhD students and fellows in the Department, by filling out the loan form.
  • all other users (including Department students preparing their thesis), by filling out the loan form and submitting it with an identity document.

Monographs:

  • for professors, researchers, PhD students and fellows of the Department for a period of 6 months, by filling out the loan form;
  • for professors and researchers from other Politecnico departments for a period of 3 months by filling out the loan form. The loan may be renewed by presenting the book and filling out the loan form once again;
  • for students of the Politecnico di Milano (including Department students preparing their thesis) for one week, by filling out the loan form, showing their library pass and leaving a photocopy of an identity document.
  • other users are permitted to loan materials for one day, which must be returned by closing time, by filling out the loan form and leaving a photocopy of an identity document. 

Description of the library's archives

The Nuclear Engineering Library houses approximately 7000 volumes and 118 magazines, 24 of which are current subscriptions. It is specialised in the following topics: general physics, atomic and molecular physics, nuclear physics, solid state physics, neutron physics, reactor physics and theory, statistical physics, plasmas, fusion, magneto hydrodynamics, applied mathematics, statistics, computer science; health physics, materials science, plumbing and heating design, energy, environment, instrumentation, mechanical design, general and organic chemistry, physical chemistry, nuclear chemistry and radiochemistry, chemical plants, radioactive waste, quantum electronics, optoelectronics, nuclear electronics, measures, controls and electronic instrumentation, theory of linear networks, circuits, analogue and numerical calculators.
